The following examples indicate possible uses for Replenishment. The initial situation for every example is outlined and then the way in which parameters have to be set for Replenishment is represented.

• Article-based Inventory Management has been activated for stores.
• Sales are not forecasted.
• Sales data from stores is confirmed via POS inbound.
• Stores can order merchandise themselves.

• Replenishment parameters

• You use Materials Management-based Inventory Management; the indicator for Replenishment-based Inventory Management in the article master is, therefore, not set.
• You enter a materials planning indicator in the article master for static target stock.
• You take planned issues and receipts into consideration when planning Replenishments .
• Optionally, you can define a reorder point.

• You carry store stocks at value-only article level; MM-based Inventory Management is not article-based.
• You do not execute sales forecasts at article/store level.
• You confirm sales data from stores using POS inbound.

• Replenishment parameters:

• You use MM-based Inventory Management; the indicator for Replenishment-based Inventory Management in the article master is, therefore, set. You can set the opening balance to zero or enter current stock, which has been defined externally, for example using a physical inventory count, manually.
• You enter a materials planning indicator in the article master for static target stock. You can set the static target stock using the opening balance or a value calculated outwith the system.
• In the article data for Replenishment, you can activate the correction of replenishment stocks using the follow-on documents that have been generated.
• Optionally, you can define a reorder point.

• Customer master data is available. However, no site master data exists. In this example, MM-based Inventory Management cannot be used.
• You can forecast sales at customer/article level using flexible planning (information structure S130).
• In Franchising, customer sales data is confirmed for you via POS inbound. In VMI, customer sales data is confirmed via EDI (message category PROACT).

• Replenishment parameters:

• You use MM-based Inventory Management; the indicator for Replenishment-based Inventory Management in the article master is, therefore, set.
• You can set the opening balance to zero or enter current stock manually, which has been defined externally, using a physical inventory count, for example.
• You enter a materials planning indicator in the article master for dynamic target stock.
• In Replenishments planning, you take forecasted sales within the replenishment lead time into consideration.
• In the article data for Replenishment, you can activate the correction of replenishment stocks using the follow-on documents that have been generated.
• Replenishments planning automatically generates sales orders (order type TAV) as follow-on documents.
