Planning With Excel Integration

Prerequisites

You must make the relevant settings in maintenance for the manual planning variants before you can use Microsoft Excel as the interface for your planning sessions in the SAP System. For more information, see Preparing Excel Integration.

Procedure

Choose a planning scenario, a planning step, a planning layout, and a manual planning variant for which Excel is defined as the interface. Start planning. Excel opens within the SAP System interface (planning data cannot be entered using the period screen).

If you have only set the indicator for integrating Excel and you gave not designed the worksheet template, the data for the unformatted planning layout is displayed in the upper left-hand corner of the new worksheet.
If you have designed a template worksheet in Customizing, it is opened in Excel.

Enter your planning data.

Note:

Do not use the following Excel functions:

Delete
Add
Sort

If you use these functions, data is not imported correctly to the SAP System.

Choose to delete data in the SAP System.
You can enter data in the cells as defined in the SAP System if the Excel worksheet is protected.
Choose to use the SAP field help.
The SAP System only imports data from the first worksheet in Excel folders. You can run additional calculations or add diagrams on a second worksheet. These are only retained temporarily during the planning session if they have not already been entered in Customizing.
If you enter formulas in the SAP data area in Excel, they are lost when the results of the formulas are overwritten.
Ensure that no cells are being processed in Excel if you want to save data, use an SAP planning function or run a check in Customizing. Display the formula bar in Excel (choose View ® Formula bar in Excel) to control this.
Choose in the SAP System to check the data that has been entered, and to calculate the layout formula.

Choose to post the data. Return to the initial screen.
