The change type controls the process flow of change objects in engineering change management.

You can define this for an entire change master record, or for objects that are allocated to the change master such as bills of material or routings.

The process flow is defined internally using the system status, and you cannot change it manually.

The workflow workbench lets you define specific workflow tasks for specific processing statuses that are monitored and controlled by the workflow manager.

To organize the business transactions for a specific processing status in detail, define a status profile in Customizing and assign the profile to the change type. In the change master, this process flow is controlled by the user status.
