Archiving (CA-ARC)

The reading of data that is no longer needed online from the database and saving this data in an archive file.

Typically, this data is eventually deleted from the system.

Archiving relieves pressure on the system because database tables are emptied. Program run-times are reduced because of the smaller data volume to be processed, and new data can be entered.

Archiving can be performed in online mode in the R/3 System because it is performed in a two-step procedure:
