Post Distribution Forecasting
Post Distribution Forecasting (PDF) is a special way of making data available for forecasting for a distribution center.
With Post Distribution Forecasting, the aggregated consumption values of all recipients (plants and/or customers) supplied by this distribution center are used. The aggregated consumption values come from the alternative historical data (AHD).
Use the Alternative Historical Data function, to provide aggregated consumption values for a distribution center for forecasting.
In order to create a meaningful forecast for a distribution center based on aggregated consumption values of all the recipients (plants and/or customers) supplied by this distribution center, you need to know which recipients are supplied by the distribution center.
As this information is not contained in the master data for the distribution center, you can establish an exact portrayal of the delivery relationships between a distribution center and its recipients using the “Delivery Relationships for Post Distribution Forecasting” function.
You can use the delivery relationships determined to carry out an exact Post Distribution Forecasting for a distribution center.
You can also perform Post Distribution Forecasting without determining delivery relationships. In this case, however, you should make sure that you actually do take all recipients into account. It is, for example, not necessary to determine delivery relationships for Post Distribution Forecasting if all recipients are only supplied by one distribution center. It is also unnecessary if each recipient is only supplied by one particular distribution center.
