Prerequisites

You can delete activity types either individually or using collective processing.

You can only delete activity types in the current controlling area if no transaction data exists for the activity type in the plan, commitments, or in the actual for the given fiscal year(s). You are also not allowed to plan any statistical key figures. The corresponding checks are executed by the system.

Procedure

1. To delete individual activity types, choose Accounting ® Controlling ® Cost Center Accounting ® Master data ® Activity type ® Individual processing ® Delete.

To delete more than one activity type at the same time, choose Accounting ® Controlling ® Cost Center Accounting ® Master data ® Activity type ® Collective processing ® Delete.

2. To delete one activity type, enter the activity type on the initial screen for individual processing.

To delete more than one activity type, enter the selection criteria for the activity types on the initial screen for collective processing.

The following selection criteria exist for activity types:
    1. Activity type of activity type interval
    2. Activity type group
    3. All activity types belonging to a controlling area
    4. Selection variant (see: Structure link Selection Variant)

In a selection variant you save selection criteria for the activity type selection. You can use the selection variant to select all activity types with the same entries in one or more master data fields.

i. To create new selection variants, choose Create selection variant.

- In the list of activity type fields, enter the criteria to be used for activity type selection.

- Save your entries.

- Enter a variant name and a description for your variant.

- Save your entries.
    1. To change an existing selection variant, choose Change selection variant.
    2. To display an existing selection variant, choose Display selection variant.
  1. Select one of the criteria and enter the appropriate selection parameters.
  2. Enter a time period in which the selected activity type(s) are valid.

Activity types that you want to delete must exist in the selected time period. However, you can make a selection even if the validity period for the activity types overlaps with the selected time period.

5. Before you delete one or more activity types, you should check in a test run whether the selected activity types may be deleted.

To do so, accept the default values for the Test run and choose Execute.
  1. The system carries out extensive checks of dependent data.

The system displays a list of the selected activity types you can delete.

Another list displays the selected activity types you are not allowed to delete. For each activity type, the system details the dependent data preventing deletion.

The detail list display takes place with the Structure link ABAP List Viewer.

b. Return to the initial screen and correct the entries for the selection, if required.

6. To delete one or more activity types, deselect Test run and choose Execute. Answer the confirmation prompt with Yes.

The system displays a list of the selected activity types that have been deleted.

In another list, the system displays the selected activity types that could not be deleted. For each activity type, the system gives a reason why the activity type could not be deleted.

The detail list display takes place with the Structure link ABAP List Viewer.

Deleting activity types in the background

  1. If you want to delete many activity types, the checks for dependent data take some time. You should therefore carry out the deletion in the background at times of minimal system usage.

Choose Background processing.

8. Choose Execute and answer the confirmation prompt with Yes.

9. Enter a job name in the dialog box.

10. Enter a date and time for the planned start or select Immediate start.

You can also define from which date and from which time no more starts should occur.

11. To exit the dialog box, choose Confirm. In the next dialog box, choose Save.

The system deletes the activity types at the specified time.

12. If you want to check the current state of the job, choose System ® Own jobs ® Job overview ® Execute.
