Linking to PDC Units in SAP Retail Store

Use

SAP Retail Store supports the use of handheld terminals (PDC units) in the following areas:

Store orders

You can transfer your stores' requirements that were entered using a handheld system directly to the system.

Physical inventory

You can transfer the count results for a physical inventory that were entered using a handheld system directly to the system.

Goods Receipt

You can transfer your stores' goods receipts that were entered using a handheld system directly to the system.

Integration

Once you have entered the data using a handheld terminal, you store it as an ASCII file. SAP Retail Store reads the data from this file and processes it.

Prerequisites

The handheld terminals that you use must be able to issue the data as a file.

For the data to be imported into SAP Retail Store, the files must have the content and format described here.

The following general prerequisites relating to the content of the PDC file apply for SAP Retail Store:

ASCII file with header information in line 1 and order items as of line 2.

A line end marked by the characters CR and LF .

All fields are left-aligned, alphanumeric, and are filled from the right with blank characters. Fields containing no data are filled with blank characters.

SAP reserve the right to change the format of the PDC file in future releases of the SAP System. This may mean that you need to adjust the PC software you use to upload data from the PDC unit and create the PDC files.
