Filter for disks and file systems monitored by SAPOSCOL.

Use

From Release 4.6C of the SAP CCMS (Computing Center Management System), you can filter the disks and file systems that are monitored by SAPOSCOL, the operating system data collector.

Currently SAPOSCOL can monitor up to 327 disks and 327 file systems on a server. For example, if you use Transaction ST06 to monitor disk data summaries, the system displays information on the first 327 disks only. From Release 4.6C you can create a file that filters the disks and file systems that SAPOSCOL monitors. Effectively this means that you can choose which 327 disks and 327 file systems are monitored.

Since SAPOSCOL monitors virtual disks as well as physical disks, many of the disks that are displayed are redundant. Filtering is also an effective way to prevent these redundant virtual disks from being monitored.

This feature is available for all of the operating system platforms that SAPOSCOL supports. Note that you must have the SAPOSCOL release that is delivered with SAP Systems Release 4.6C. Alternatively, you can download the latest version of SAPOSCOL from sapserv3 as described in Note 0019227 in SAPNet.

Disk and file system filtering is not currently supported on Linux, OS/390 or SUN OS.

Effects on System Administration
