Decentralized Warehouse Management
Purpose
This scenario describes how to use the R/3 System as a decentralized warehouse management system.
Prerequisites
For information on the prerequisites and limitations of decentralized Warehouse Management, refer to:
Limitations.
Process Flow
Inbound and Outbound Shipments
You can use transportation planning to group together inbound and outbound deliveries that are due to be shipped. Essential planning activities are determining shipping deadlines and means of transport, and assigning routes. Transportation processing allows you to follow the transportation activities that take place after planning.
Goods Receipt
The inbound deliveries created in the ERP system are transferred to decentralized Warehouse Management via BAPI. The goods that have been physically received in the warehouse are entered here.
You create a transfer order based on the goods receipt and place the goods in storage.
You confirm the transfer order.
You post the goods receipts for the inbound shipment. When the confirmation is sent to the ERP system, the goods receipt is posted there.
Stock Transfers and Transfer Postings
A delivery is created from the goods movements created in the ERP system and transmitted to decentralized Warehouse Management via BAPI.
After physical receiving or issuing the goods, you create a transfer order.
You confirm the transfer order.
The confirmation is sent to the ERP system (using the goods receipt for the inbound delivery and the goods issue for the outbound delivery).
When the confirmation is imported to the ERP system, the stock transfer is posted in Inventory Management.
Goods Issue
For a goods issue in the warehouse, an outbound delivery is created in the ERP system and transmitted to decentralized Warehouse Management.
You create a transfer order for the outbound delivery.
You physically perform the picking in the warehouse.
You confirm the transfer order and print the shipping documents, if necessary.
When the goods issue for the outbound delivery is posted, confirmation is sent to the ERP system.
When the confirmation is imported to the ERP system, the goods issue is posted in Inventory Management.
Physical Inventory
The physical inventory in decentralized Warehouse Management corresponds to that of a normal warehouse management system.
