Goods Movements

Purpose

This scenario describes movements of materials:

Prerequisites

The Warehouse Management (LE-WM) functionality is a prerequisite for transfer requirements and transfer orders.

Process Flow

Reservation

You can use reservations to keep materials for withdrawal at a later stage. This ensures that the material is available at the time of the withdrawal and the goods issue is planned and prepared.
You can also use reservations to plan goods receipts and stock transfers or transfer postings.

Inbound and Outbound Shipments

You can use transportation planning to group together the deliveries that are due to be transported. Essential planning activities are determining shipping deadlines and means of transport, and assigning routes. Transportation processing allows you to follow the transportation activities that take place after planning.

Goods Receiving

Here you post goods receipts without reference to a purchase order or any other order. You can also use this function to move stocks from a legacy system to the R/3 System.

  1. A transfer order is created for the goods receipt and the material is placed into storage.
  2. The transfer order is confirmed and any differences are processed.

Stock Transfers and Transfer Postings

Stock transfers and transfer postings are typical goods movements, used for certain organizational aspects, for example, decentralized storage.

  1. As a result of the stock transfer or transfer posting, a transfer order is created and the goods are transferred.
  2. The transfer order is confirmed and differences are processed.

Goods Issuing

You enter and post goods issues with and without reference to manual reservations here. The system issues an error message if the material is not available.

  1. The transfer requirement generated by the goods issue is converted to a transfer order.
  2. The material is removed from storage.
  3. The transfer order is confirmed and differences are processed.
