Plant used for
reading cost estimate
Definition
The valuation plant is the
plant in which the system looks for a valid cost estimate for the costing keys assigned to a given material.
By default, the system reads the cost estimates
in Product Cost Controlling based on the plant found in the CO-PA line item.
There are two ways of changing the default setting:
- With Costing Key Definition (in valuation Customizing under "Define
Keys for Accessing Material Cost Estimates"), you can enter a valuation plant
explicitly.
If a plant has been
set by the system, this predefined plant is always used to read the costing
data.
If - during
valuation with a material cost estimate - costing keys are determined using
"flexible assignment" and a valuation plant is defined in the relevant
assignment table, then this plant will be used to read the costing data for
all costing keys found without an explicitly specified valuation plant (as
opposed to using the plant defined in the CO-PA line item).
