In this IMG activity, you assign characteristics and characteristic values to your process instruction categories.
You can assign any number of characteristics to an instruction category. A characteristic can be assigned several times to a process instruction. You specify the sequence of the characteristic in a process instruction category using sort numbers.
When you create a process instruction, the characteristic assignments of the instruction category are copied to the process instruction. You can, however, change or delete assignments in the process instruction.
Characteristic values providing general information, such as the requested message category, can be assigned to the process instruction category. Process-specific values, such as the material quantity required can be added in the master recipe or in the process order.
Define characteristics for process instructions
In the standard system, characteristics are assigned to the process instruction categories predefined by SAP.
If the value of a characteristic can be assigned automatically in the control recipe or the process order, the A indicator (automatic value assignment) is displayed for this characteristic. For information on the value assignment function used for the characteristic see the field help for the characteristic.
