Improved
Usability of the Workload Monitor (Trans. ST03N)
Use
With Release 4.6C of the SAP System, the user
interface of the workload monitor (Transaction ST03) has been enhanced as part
of the EnjoySAP initiative and is now available as Transaction ST03N.
Navigation within the new transaction is much simpler and more intuitive than
using Transaction ST03. The new design was conceived with different users in
mind, whereby different default functions are displayed depending on the user
mode that is called. These are described in more detail below.
The user interface of Transaction ST03N has
been divided into two parts. To the left side of the screen you can choose
different functions directly, and the results of each function are displayed
accordingly on the right side.
Standardized ABAP list view controls (ALV) have
also been introduced, thus enabling you to dictate how the data is displayed
(you can sort the data, set filters, use the search function and summarize
columns, for example).
The main new features of the new workload
monitor are as follows:
There are three
types of user modes and the type of information that is
displayed differs
accordingly:
This mode provides
users with all available functions. You can choose all of the workload data
records that are available (daily, weekly and monthly records).
SAP recommends that
you use this mode. It provides quick access to today's workload statistics as
well as an overview of the workload distribution. It also enables you to
display all of the functions that relate to the collector.
This mode provides
you with the workload statistics for today and the previous week, as well as
an overview of the workload history and distribution, and a detailed
analysis.
- Faster access to the individual parameters you
require
Transaction ST03N
enables you to navigate between information on individual parameters faster
than ever. You can now display information on individual parameters from one
screen. You no longer have to return to the initial screen of the transaction
to display different parameter information.
With Transaction
ST03N, you can now display information such as a Business Transaction analysis
or the last minutes load for every application server, and not just for the
server that you have logged on to. This feature speeds up workload monitoring
since you no longer have to log on to individual servers to display the
information you require.
With this function
you can save a user-specific default view. For example, if you are mainly
interested in the response times for a time profile, in the service engineer
user mode, you can save this view as your default view. When you next call
Transaction ST03N, the system automatically displays this view again. Note
that you can save a specific profile, the tab page you have selected, the task
type and the ALV layout.
Effects on
Existing Data
Most of the features from Transaction ST03 are
also available in Transaction ST03N. In future SAP Releases you will also be
able to display aggregation in transaction profiles, display hitlists and also
access detailed information by double-clicking on an individual
profile.
