Set Link to Express Delivery Company

Express Delivery Company Cockpit

This transaction offers links to all the transactions you will need to set up an express delivery company in the system.

In this activity, you can set up a connection to an express delivery comany, which in turn enables the following functions in delivery, shipment and packing station processing:

Requirements

The express delivery company must be SAP-certified for these interfaces, otherwise automatic setup is not possible.

Recommendation

Typically, the express delivery company link should be implemented based on deliveries and using handling units as packing elements. If you make the corresponding settings, parcel tracking and label printing is possible for each handling unit.

If you work on a handling unit basis, use output type KEP6 for label printing and incorporate the packing station here. In this case, you should specify the R_XSI_LABEL_PRINT print program in the Express Delivery Company Cockpit as the Standard label form.

Activities

You must make the settings in both of the following steps in order to use the functions mentioned above:

1. First, maintain the core data, which is almost identical for all express delivery companies.
2. Define a connection for the express delivery company in the delivery-specific and shipment-specific data records by using an automatic setup.

Activate the connection to the express delivery company's identification

Select Goto -> Global setting -> Activate globally in the menu and then activate the ExpDelivCmpnyActiv indicator with an "X".

Select an express delivery company indentification

Use Create express delivery company to set up an express delivery company in the system. Enter an ID of your choice for the express delivery company.

Assign express delivery company to a service agent:

(Prerequisite: Service agent must have been created in the system.)

Use the Assign service agent button on the Exp. dlv. cmpny control tab page to access the service-agent assignment transaction. Confirm the Save entry? query with Y.

Enter your account number in theAccount w/ExpDlvCo. field in the Express Delivery Company Cockpit. This is the number that you get from the express delivery company. If a unique number was already recorded in the service agent's system, this number is automatically transferred. If the number is not unique, all of the service agent's account numbers are displayed in a selection list for this field.

This account number is used as identification in every correspondence with the express delivery company.

Assign shipping points to the express delivery company:

Assign a shipping point to the express delivery company that it is to use for picking up goods.

Specify RFC destinations:

Enter an RFC destination of the TCP/IP type. This entry is necessary for automatic setup via the XML-enabled RFC interface.

Specify track RFC destinations:

Enter an RFC destination of the TCP/IP type here that will be used in the parcel tracking function to call up the parcel tracking status via the XML-enabled RFC interface.

RFC destinations movement data:

(Mainly for printing labels) Enter an RFC destination of the TCP/IP type here that determines data via the express delivery company's XML -enabled RFC interface. This RFC destination uses this data to override the values entered as meta-data if the BAPI access indicator (BAPI CAR PRVD LABEL DATA) is set.

Print standard label form

You can specify a SAPscript form here for printing labels.

Print standard text form:

You can specify a text file with printer commands for label printing here. The express delivery company provides you with this file, although you must upload the file into your system manually.

Specify data provider:

Enter your express delivery company's identification that will be used in the automatic setup in the ExternalExpDlvCo. field. If you want to carry out the automatic setup by using the RFC destinations via XML, you must also enter the express delivery company's URL that will be used during automatic setup in the Target URL for Bus. Connector field.

In the second step, the system uses the automatic setup to define a data record that is specifically for the express delivery company connection in delivery- and shipment processing. This data record is also determined dynamically when you save deliveries, shipments or handling units. The information then applies to a delivery, shipment or handling unit. There are XML-enabled RFC interfaces that are available for setting up an express delivery company in the system and maintaining master data. These RFC interfaces are supported by express delivery companies that have been certified by SAP for this purpose, making the automatic setup possible with just the touch of a button.

To activate the automatic setup, choose Non-SAP system from the button bar. The system then makes the RFC connection to your express delivery company (via the SAP Business Connector in the Internet using the URL you entered above, if necessary). All tab pages except for Exp. dlv. cmpny control and Data provider are then hidden.

Select Load all master data. All the necessary data is then imported to your system from the express delivery company. Save these settings and select Home system.

The automatic setup also defines the data and qualifiers that are placed in the corresponding IDoc when you save a document.

Subsequent processing of data:

Ask your express delivery company what data must be processed further manually, since this is different for each customer.
