Product Cost by Period

You can use the functions of the Product Cost by Period component for the following objects:

With product cost collectors

With cost object hierarchies

With manufacturing orders to include the special features of such orders

You normally perform the following actions for a product cost collector:

Create a preliminary cost estimate

Perform simultaneous costing

Simultaneous costing is achieved through the collection of actual costs for the cost object in question (such as a product cost collector). You can view the current actual costs in the information system at any time.

Perform final costing

Final costing is performed during the period-end closing process.

Both simultaneous and final costing are possible for a cost object hierarchy.

You make the necessary settings for preliminary costing, simultaneous costing, and final costing in Customizing.

To be able to view the data in the Information System, you must make a number of settings in Customizing for the Product Cost Controlling Information System.
