Generate Message Type

In this IMG activity, you can generate message types for the information structures which contain the data you which to send.

To do this, you need to assign a message type to every sender information structure.

This ensures that an IDoc that contains statistical data will always be sent to the receiver whenever the data of the corresponding information structure is saved.

In general, the name "LIPxxx" is given to the generated message types (xxx indicates the three numbers that follow the "S" in the name of the information structure; for example: the message type that is generated for information structure S011 is called LIP011).

Requirements

The message type of the sender information structure and the receiver information structure must be identical.

Activities

1. Enter the name of the information structure.
2. If you set the update indicator, the system first determines whether a message type already exists for the information structure you have specified. If the indicator was set, the existing message type will be overwritten.
If you do not set the update indicator, the system will still determine whether a message type already exists for the information structure you have specified. If the indicator was not set, the existing message type will not, howebver, be replaced.
3. Press ENTER.
A message type is generated for the information structure you have specified.
