Distribution Keys

Definition

The distribution key is a tool used in planning which enables you to distribute an annual plan value over the plan periods according to your requirements.

Use

Distribution keys are available for use by all CO applications. If a new distribution key is created in one application, all other CO applications will have access to it in planning too.

Structure

Various standard distribution keys exist in the system which you can use but not change. If necessary, you can create your own distribution keys.

The following standard distribution keys are available:

Distribution key

Effect

0

Manual distribution to periods

1

Equal distribution of annual plan value to periods

2

3

Value entered interpreted as percentage and multiplied by the previous value of the period

4

5

Periods containing a value copied to following periods containing no value

6

Individual period value copied to following period

7

For the transfer of plan data itself, a distribution key is not required as the data is transferred with period distribution. You can, however, change the distribution key for transferred plan data using Plan data ® Change.

If you plan profit centers directly, you can distribute your annual plan value to the plan periods using various distribution keys. When planning on the period screen, the distribution key is automatically set to 0 for manual distribution.

You normally maintain distribution keys in Customizing. However, you can also create, change, display or delete distribution keys from the application menu by choosing the menu option Environment ® EC-PCA configuration and then double-clicking on the line Distribution keys from the list. To create a distribution key, enter a short description, then enter a relative factor per period. This factor is then used for the distribution of the annual plan value.
