A layout is a form that determines the layout of screens for entering data.
Use
In Profit Center Accounting, layouts are required for the following functions:

All planning layouts have the following basic structure:

The header (headings) of the layout contains a number of text lines that describe the object(s) that can be planned using this layout. These contain the characteristics that were specified in the General data selection of the layout.
The lead columns contain the dimensions that you plan. You can define several lead columns. You create lead columns using SAP characteristics, such as profit center or account.
The value columns are where you enter your data. In other words, this is where you enter the actual or plan values.

You define the three areas of a layout in Customizing for Profit Center Accounting.

Once you have defined a layout, you can only change it in Customizing. It is no longer possible for you to change the layout from the application - that is, when entering values.
