Using the
Packing Station 
Use
Up to now, the packing dialog was carried out by employees that were not involved in the actual, physical packing process. These users most likely carried out the packing process within the context of delivery- or shipment processing.
As of this release, the users that actually pack the picked materials into packaging materials at a packing station in the warehouse can enter each part of the packing process into the SAP System directly. You can make these entries either with the keyboard or using a scanner (as long as the necessary information is in barcode format). You can also transfer the exact weight to the SAP System via a scale that is linked to the system. In addition, there is a function available in connection with the packing station that can depict and document the materials in the system. This function provides you with the following options:
- Creating and changing handling units with
reference to a delivery (inbound and outbound deliveries)
You can define in the system which quantities of which delivery items are packed in a handling unit.
- Creating handling units without object
reference
This gives you the option of packing materials that you want to store in the warehouse, for example, in handling units.
- Printing labels individually (for each
handling unit)
When the handling units are packed, you can immediately print labels with their handling unit identifiers, for example.
Effects on Customizing
If you would like to implement the packing station, you must make the following settings in the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Logistics Execution (or Handling Unit Management).
Use the 
set
profile for packing station activity to set the packing station
profile for each computer, so that you can configure the packing process
individually for different packing stations.
