Define
Background Job
In this IMG activity, you define background
jobs for the following programs:

You can start the send job as
follows:
- In certain time intervals
- After the event SAP_NEW_PROCESS_MESSAGES, this
means, every time new messages are available
- For cross-plant sending, you specify the
client as the event parameter.
- For plant-specific sending, you specify the
client and plant as the event parameters.
Activities
Proceed as follows to define a new background
job:
1. Choose activity Define Background
Job.
2. Enter the following data:
- The job class and the priority of the
background job
- If required, the target sever on which you
want to run the job
3. Save your entries.
4. Choose Start condition and make
the following settings depending on the planned start time of the
job:
- If you want to start the job as soon as a
specified event is triggered, choose After
event.
Enter the event and,
if required, the relevant event parameter. If you enter more than one
parameter, separate the parameters by one blank character each.
Set the
Periodic job indicator.
- If you want to run the job periodically at
certain time intervals, choose
Date/Time.
Enter the date and
time when the job should be run for the first time.
Set the
Periodic job indicator.
Choose
Period values and enter the time intervals at which the job is
to be restarted.
5. Save your entries.
6. Choose
Step.
7. Enter the following data:
- The name of the program to be
executed
- If required, the selection variant to be used
when the job is run
8. Save your entries

Notes
- The job overview provides information on
executed background jobs. To go to the job overview, proceed as
follows:
a) On any screen, choose System ->
Services -> Jobs ->
Job overview.
b) Enter the selection criteria and choose
Execute.
c) To display the log for a job, select the job and choose
Job log.
