Assign characteristics to destination-specific target fields

In this step, you assign the characteristics of your message categories to thetarget fields of the corresponding message destinations.

You need to carry out this step in the following cases:

for destinations of type R/3 table: always; otherwise, the characteristic data cannot be transferred to the destination

for destinations of type R/3 function module: only if this is required due to the definition of the function module

for destination PI01, "Process message record": If the messages of a message category are to be archived via process data documentation, you need to assign the characteristic for the process order to the target field PROCESS_ORDER.

for destination PI07, "Send to destination defined in mesage": The characteristics to which you want to assign the destinations in the message category must be assigned to the destination-specific target field DESTINATION.

When a process message is sent, the characteristic values are transferred to the destination fields assigned here.

For the message categories defined by SAP, the necessary assignments have been made in the standard R/3 System.

1. Select the message category that you want to process.

2. Go to the screen Message char./target field. Select the message destination whose target fields you want to assign.

3. To create new assignments, choose New entries.

4. Assign the characteristics of your message category to the destination-specific target fields.

5. Save the settings.
