Purpose
This scenario represents a service, for example, for technical installations or machines. A serial number and a material number are assigned to each product to ensure clear identification. In addition, equipment and functional locations are defined for the installation location of each product.
Process Flow
Serial Numbers
Serial numbers as well as material numbers are assigned for individual material in order to differentiate the individual pieces from all others. The combination of material number and serial number are unique.
Equipment
A piece of equipment is an individual, physical unit that is to be maintained as an autonomous unit. Equipment can be installed in a functional location for a period of time or can be installed on superior equipment. It can be used at several installation locations during the course of its useful life. Pieces of equipment can be arranged in a number of levels and can be linked with each other to represent complex equipment. This represents the network-like structure of the complete technical system and the dependencies between equipment units.
Equipment Bill of Material
The equipment bill of material (equipment BOM) is a directory you use to describe the structure of equipment and to assign spare parts needed for maintenance to it. An equipment BOM can be created for a particular piece of equipment or for a group of technical objects.
Functional Locations
The functional location outlines the objects to be maintained according to functional, process-oriented, or spatial viewpoints. It represents the location where maintenance tasks are carried out or an installation area where the equipment is set up.
Every functional location can be individually managed in the system so that you can:
Equipment can be installed or dismantled at functional locations. The operating times of the equipment at the functional location are documented in the schedule.
