New Developments In The Schedule Manager

Use

You can use the following new functions in the Schedule Manager:

Schedule Manager

Link sales orders to the Schedule Manager

You can use the period-end closing transactions for sales orders with the Schedule Manager, and process sales order items with and without revenues in the processing steps.

Scheduler

Schedule a whole task list

Scheduling a whole task list enables you to complete period-end closing significantly faster. To prevent tasks being started on weekends, or on public holidays, you can restrict the start dates to calendar and work days.

You can schedule a task list including all its tasks. You need to specify a start time for each task in the list. You specify the times relatively (no set date), thus determining a task sequence from the set start date that is not time-dependent.

The particular advantage of this concept is that you can use the task list in the same form each month for scheduling. You then only need to specify the start time for the whole task list.

Before you start scheduling, you can start a scheduling simulation. The system displays a list of dates on which the tasks are to be started.

You can delete task lists already scheduled by choosing Delete scheduling . The system displays a table for this to show the statuses of each single task, and the overall status of the task list.

Processing task lists

You can send long texts saved in the task list as mails within the SAP System.

You can copy existing tasks as a template for new tasks by using the right mouse button.

Runtime analysis for jobs in the task list and for flow definitions

The runtime analysis enables you to display the average runtime of a job or flow definition, and forecasts the expected runtime of the next run.

You can add your own forecasts.

If runtime information is available for certain tasks in the task list, the system displays this in the last three columns of the task list.

"Release" jobs

Releasing a job enables you to reserve a job for a particular time without the system starting the job at that time. The system only starts the job once you have released it.

The release function provides system administrators with a better overview on the jobs to be processed.

You can release job when you insert it into the task list, or after you scheduled a job in the daily view.

"Change status" for jobs

Statuses displayed in job management can differ from those in the Schedule Manager if a status change has been made there. The changes are not necessarily shown straight away in job management, as more status information is available in the Schedule Manager than in job management.

Control global parameters in the task list

You can store global parameters such as company code or profit center for a task list. Changes made to the parameters stored for the task list affect all variants that are in the task list.

Monitors

Monitor merge in the Schedule Manager

The two monitors previously in the Schedule Manager (Schedule Manager monitor and Schedule Manager monitor worklists) have been replaced by one monitor on one screen, reducing navigation time. The system now displays worklists, processing steps, and jobs in the structure tree of the monitor.

Hierarchy comparison

You can use this to compare objects that contain hierarchy information (such as projects, or cost object hierarchies). This enables you to process errors efficiently that are caused by value discrepancies in two periods.

You can also compare two versions of an original structure in the Project System. In a separate window the system displays all changes made to the version

You can either compare single objects, subhierarchies, or both the entire structures with each other. The system displays the results of the comparison in different categories:

For comprehensive information on comparing hierarchies, see the SAP Library under Logistics -> Project System -> Collaborative Engineering & Project Management (CEP) -> Monitoring -> Comparison of Two Folders.

Note that only the comparison functions are included in the Schedule Manager, it is not possible to match the hierarchies.

Hierarchy display

The hierarchy view displays the objects with their hierarchical relationships. This provides you with a fast overview of the relation between the objects that have errors, enabling you to selectively process objects that have a particularly large number of errors.
