Assign destinations to process message categories

In this step, you assign destinations to process message categories.

You can assign several destinations to a message category. A message destintation can be assigned to several message categories.

Process management sends each process message to all destinations assigned to the corresponding message category.

In the standard R/3 System, message destinations are assigned to the message categories predefined by SAP. You can add further assignments.

1. Select the message category to which you want to assign destinations.

2. Go to the Destinations/Message category screen.

3. To create new assignments, choose New entries.

4. Enter the names of the destinations you want to assign.

5. Save the settings.

Destination PI07 sends process messages to other message destinations specified in the form or characteristic values in the messages. This requires that

you assign the message destintation PI07 to the message category in the current processing step

you carry out the required assignments for destination PI07 in step Message char./target field

you do not have to assign message characteristics to destination-specific target fields for the destinations you want to specify in the process message

Only process messages which are sent to destination PI01, "Process message record", can be taken into account in process data documentation and process message evaluation.

Messages which are sent to user-defined ABAP/4 tables can be accessed using internal and external tools for carrying out user-defined evaluations.
