Handling Units
in Production Orders 
Use
In Release 4.6C, the new Handling Unit Management (HUM) component is available. In production orders, you can use handling units (HU) in the following cases:
- Goods issues for withdrawing components
- Goods receipts for produced materials
Handling units optimize logistical processes without influencing the flow of capital in your company. That is, all goods movements continue to be posted to the production orders involved.
The advantages of using handling units are as follows:
- Simplified goods movement execution
- Improved transparency, monitoring and tracking of material flow
- Products can also be packed individually in make-to-stock production
The following processes or functions are available:
- Material staging of components with/without WM integration
- Packing of the produced material
- Goods issue posting using HU
- Partial goods issue posting using HU
- Goods receipt posting using HU
- Goods movement cancellation using HU
