Automatic
Packing With Packing Instructions
Use
The customer specifies the material and
quantity that is to be packed in certain packaging, that is, in one handling
unit. These requirements are reproduced in a packing instruction. This packing
instruction can be used to create handling units automatically.
- You can define the materials to be packed and
the corresponding packaging in detail in the packing instruction.
- You can include an item of packaging material
in the packing instruction, but mark it as not relevant for the handling unit.
This enables you to map the use of a material that you do not want to be
included in the HU, such as a welding sheet or packing strips.
- You can link from the packing instruction to
documents in the Document Management System, enabling you to include, for
example, detailed descriptions or drawings of the packing process. For
shorter, item-specific texts, you can create text items in the packing
instruction itself.
- The system uses packing instructions to create
proposals for handling units, which you can change or confirm in the packing
transaction.
- You can pack for sales orders in production.
You can display the customer-specific packing requirements that result from
the current shipping situation, then pack and create HUs accordingly, with
reference to the sales order or scheduling agreement.
- Via the condition technique, the system
automatically finds the appropriate packing instruction using the combination
of search categories defined in Customizing (for example, material or material
and ship-to party.)
- Packing instructions can be displayed on the
Internet, within the Internet display of MM scheduling agreements in the
Supplier Information Cockpit. The vendor can thus display the packing
instructions to be used to pack goods.
