Maintaining Materials Centrally in the Decentralized System
When centrally maintained material data is urgently needed in the decentralized R/3 System, and the automatic data transfer between the two systems is temporarily not possible, it may be necessary to maintain the relevant views manually in the decentralized system. To do this, the following transactions are available to you in the R/3 System.
For central maintenance only the sales-related views that are necessary for parallel data maintenance in both systems are available to you. On these screens, all relevant fields are ready for input. The Item category group, Transportation group and Loading group fields are not mandatory, since they can subsequently be maintained decentrally.
Creating Materials Centrally
To create a material centrally in the decentralized R/3 System, proceed as follows:
® Logistics Execution ® Internal Whse Processes ® R/2-R/3 Link ® Material Master Maintenance ® Create Centrally.The Create Material: Initial Screen screen appears.
Changing Materials Centrally
To change a material centrally in the decentralized R/3 System, proceed as follows:
® Logistics Execution ® Internal Whse Processes ® R/2-R/3 Link ® Material Master Maintenance ® Change Centrally.The Change Material: Initial Screen screen appears.
To guarantee data consistency in both systems it is very important to make sure that, when maintaining centrally, the manually maintained material data in the decentralized R/3 System corresponds exactly to the material data in the central system.
Maintenance Authorizations
To prevent material data that has been transferred to the decentralized R/3 System from being changed by unauthorized persons, the maintenance of the various views of the material master record has to be limited through the allocation of authorizations (object M_MATE_STA) by the system administrator.
