Converting data of the implementation process or implementation guide

Description

During customizing you can store status information and notes in the implementation guide. In Release 3.0, implementation activities are structured by projects. Status information now relates to a specific project and various types of notes can be written. This requires the previously maintained data to be converted if it is to be taken over. The program RSMVPROJ is available for this purpose.

Damage caused to data by errors

The program converts the existing data. The old data remains in the system, i.e, if problems occur or the program needs to be restarted, the data is still available.

Changes in procedure

To convert the data, you have to create a variant for the program RSMVPROJ. The program may run for a longer period of time depending on the volume of the data to be converted. It should therefore be run in the background.

The program RSMVPROJ requires the following entries:

• Project number
  Three-digit number to identify the project

• Project language
  Language in which all the notes processed within the project must be written. This language should not be changed later because existing notes will not be available afterwards.

• Project description
  Short project description.

• Person in charge of the project

• Starting date and End date
  Rough time schedule for the project.

• Note type
  From Release 3.0 onwards different kinds of project documentation can be stored in different note types. When creating notes, please observe the naming conventions for customer objects (Y* or Z*).

• Description
  Short description of the specified note type.

You can enter the project specifications later within project management. You should therefore not change the project language.

You can define notes as global or local notes. The note type defaulted in the conversion program is local and assigned only to the specified project. If you want to see the converted notes in all projects, you have to maintain the indicator for the specified note type in Table DSYBA (System -> Services -> Extended table maintenance).
