Sorting Report Rows

Use

You can sort report rows in reports that have been output in various ways by using the functions under Edit ® Sorting.

Depending on where you have positioned the cursor in the report, there are two ways in which you can sort the report. You can use the hierarchical sort function to sort the entire row hierarchy on all summation levels. It is also possible to sort the rows just on the summation level of the row you have selected.

Procedure

Defining the Sorting Function

You can tailor the sorting function to your requirements under Edit ® Sorting ® Define....

Hierarchical Sorting Function

If you position the cursor on the heading of a certain report column and choose Edit ® Sorting ® Sort ascending or Edit ® Sorting ® Sort descending, the system sorts the entire row hierarchy on all summation levels.

Sorting Function on a Summation Level

If you position the cursor on a report row within a certain report column and choose Edit ® Sorting ® Sort ascending or Edit ® Sorting ® Sort descending, the system sorts the rows on the summation level of the row you selected.

When you use the sorting function, the system displays a symbol in the heading of the column for which you have sorted report rows.

Undoing a Sort

To restore the original order of the report rows, choose Edit ® Sorting ® Undo sorting.
