Enhanced control functions for characteristics
derivation
Description
Release 3.0 supports more flexible control functions for the derivation of
dependent characteristic values from the characteristic values to which data
is assigned or planned.
1. Until now you could derive
characteristic values from the customer and product master records as well as
using CO-PA derivation rules. In Release 3.0, you can define a derivation from
other SAP tables in a new derivation table. You can use any table for which
the key can be completely filled using fields from a CO-PA line item to derive
characteristics. For example, you can fill a characteristic in CO-PA with the
country from the company code table or the city from the plant table.
2. An additional control option is to
specify basis characteristics with which you can access a specific master
table. For example, you can derive the sales district from the sold-to party
or the goods recipient, if the goods recipient is active as a characteristic
in Profitability Analysis.
3. As of Release 3.0, you can use a new
derivation table to transfer parts of a source field to a characteristic in
profitability analysis (specification of offset and length). This is
particularly important for the master data field "Product hierarchy", which is
often used in CO-PA.
4. As of Release 3.0, you can use customer
exits for user-defined enhancements to characteristics derivation -- one exit
that runs before the standard derivation and another that runs after the
standard derivation (see Transaction CMOD, enhancement "ANREICH", components
EXIT_SAPLKEAA_001 and EXIT_SAPLKEAA_002).
Change system parameters in customizing
You can define the control of characteristics derivation in Customizing for
Profitability Analysis.
Define derivation table
If you do not maintain the table, the previously available functionality
remains active.
