Scheduling in Monitoring Dates

Use

As of Release 4.6C it is possible to determine the order in which events occur and the time (offset) between events. As a result you can schedule the dates for components in a project.

This means you no longer have to link dates to be monitored with milestones in the network to schedule events. However, it is still possible to use dates from R/3 objects such as networks, milestones, purchase orders and similar objects. You can reference, for instance, the requirements date from the reservation and then use this date as the starting point for scheduling in Monitoring Dates. This means that you can schedule events that are not explicitly connected with objects in the network.

You can schedule forwards and backwards, selecting the events and components to be scheduled.

It is not necessary to schedule all the events in a group, you can select which events are scheduled.

For example in the network you determine the requirements date of an externally procured component . You know from previous experience how long the manufacturer needs to produce this component and how long your purchasing department needs to choose a manufacturer and process the order. By referencing the requirements date and backwards scheduling in Monitoring Dates, you can determine the dates on which you must have processed the inquiry or placed the order.

By assigning a group to the profile for Monitoring Dates, you assign as a default all the components in the project to this group. If you then assign a scheduling scenario to this group, the system also automatically imports the required events together with the scheduling data.

Effects on Customizing

As well as defining the order in which the events occur and the time between events in the transaction, you can also predefine these settings in Customizing in the form of a scheduling scenario for Monitoring Dates . You can then assign this scenario to a group on the Groups overview screen.
