CA Customizing: Project Management in Customizing

Description

As of Release 3.0, you can create several implementation projects via Project Management in Customizing. The following control functions are determined for every implementation project:

which controls access to the project documentation regardless of the logon language
gives you the option of defining information on the steps, in order to control the implementation project
gives you the option of allocating different note types, in order to create documentation on the steps and monitor it separately

The definition of the project scope (Project IMG) is carried out on the basis of the Country and Function Selection for the Enterprise IMG. For the Project IMG, you can choose individual countries and functions from the Enterprise IMG.

If you only work with one implementation project, you can copy the the Enterprise IMG.

You can create any number views of the Poject IMG to structure your implementation project. The following options are available:

The business attributes "allocation to the procedure model", "processing necessity", and "critical function" are allocated to all the steps in the Implementation Guide.
The structure of the Project IMG is displayed via individual selection. You can select individual steps or hierarchy nodes and hence generate any view.

Within Project Management in Customizing, you can load the data for an implementation project from the R/3 System to a PC with the function "Up/Download". The transferred data is stored in an MPX file and includes the following information:

On the PC, you can process this file further with a project management program (for example: MS Project).

You can restore the project data, which you changed with the PC program, into the R/3 System. In this case, only the changes to the activity data are transferred.

If you make changes to the project structure, these changes are not transferred.

You can extend the structure of the SAP Reference IMG in the R/3 System.

Software/hardware requirements

You can carry out the function "Up/Download" on PCs on which the MS-DOS or OS/2 operating systems are installed.

For reasons of compatibility, we recommend that you start the PC program in the language version under which you were logged on to the R/3 System when you transferred the project data.

Further notes

Please refer to the Customizing manual and the program documentation on the Function "Up/Download" for further information.
