CA Customizing : Downloading/Uploading Customizing Project Information

Description

In the Customizing project manager you can use the upload/download function to load implementation project data from the R/3 System into your PC. The data is tranferred in MPX format. See below (Further Information) for details of the data structure.

You can upload the data you changed on the PC back into the R/3 System. Only changes to fields in the4 status screen (not changes to the project structure) are uploaded.

Recommendations

Project scenarios

Two basic project scenarios are envisioned for this function:

The data is maintained in the R/3 System.
In this case it is recommended that use the download function only. Using upload may introduce unwanted data into the R/3 System.
It is possible to calculate scheduling and expense data for hierarchy nodes in MS Project, and to import the values into the SAP System.
In this case the data is downloaded at the beginning of the project and is edited in MS Project. Any subsequent changes to the structure have to be carried out manually in MS Project and in the R/3 System.
* Structural changes allow additions to the standard IMG.

Notes:

To view data exported to MS Project, use the MS Project 'Export' table. If data is subsequently to loaded back into the R/3 system, changes made in MS Project should be saved as MPX.

Use the 'Export' table structure. If all the available fields in the Status screen are to be used, the '%COMPLETE', 'REMAINING-WORK', and 'TEXT2' should be included in the 'Export' table.

Use the same date format in MS Project as in the R/3 System.
