Process for Notifications 
Use
For optimized notification processing in your company, you can activate an approval requirement for each notification type in Customizing, that controls how newly created notifications can be processed. If a newly created notification is subject to an approval process, it initially receives the status Submit for approval and cannot be processed further at this point. This status requires that a person or department responsible explicitly decide whether or not the notification is approved for further processing. The SAP Business Workflow can start a workflow that automatically notifies the person or department responsible of a notification pending for approval. The following processing scenarios are possible:
- The person or department responsible approves
the notification.
In this case, the notification is released for further processing. The system executes the business transaction Give approval, which simultaneously sets the statuses Approval OK and Notification in process in the notification.
You can then process the notification in the usual manner (for example, by defining tasks for the notification).
- The person or department responsible does not
give an approval.
In this case, the notification is not released for further processing. The system executes the business transaction Refuse approval and simultaneously sets the statuses Approval refused and Notification completed in the notification.
The person who created a notification can monitor both the current status of the notification, as well as the decision concerning the approval (if an approval requirement exists) from his or her workplace.
Effects on Customizing
If you want to activate an approval process for a notification, you must set the indicator Approval required for the desired notification type in Customizing for Cross-Application Components under Notification -> Notification Creation -> Partner -> Define Partner Determination Procedures (Assign Partner Functions to Notification Type).
