Measurement Restrictions

You can set the runtime analysis only to measure certain objects or functions by choosing Change in the Measurement restrictions group box on the initial screen.

Measurement Restriction Options

Measurement restrictions can refer to:

You can also use the Particular units option to specify that coding extracts should only be measured if they:

  1. Occur between the SET RUNTIME ANALYZER ON and SET RUNTIME ANALYZER OFF statements.
  2. Occur after you have entered /ron in the command field, but before you en ter /roff .
  3. Occur after you have activated the runtime analysis by choosing System ® Utilities ® Runtime analysis.

The Within and below option allows you to extend the depth of the measurement to include all modules and programs called from a particular program or section of a program.

Measurement Variants

If you do not specify a variant in the Measurement restriction group box, the system uses the default variant, containing predefined settings for the statements to be measured, the duration of the measurement, and the size of the performance file.

You can create a variant by choosing Change. You can then save it under a different name so that it is available for future analyses.

If you want to create a variant with limited validity, you can specify that it should be a temporary variant TMP .

The Variants… function allows you to display a list of all variants and select one to use in an analysis.
