Using WinWord as the Customizing notes editor

Description

From Release 3.0A, you can use WinWord as your notes editor in the implementation guide (IMG).

Software/hardware requirements

You can only choose WinWord as your notes editor on a Windows front-end.

WinWord has to be installed on the Windows front-ends you use for notes.

Changes in procedure

You can choose a notes editor in the Customizing First steps menu.

The factory setting for the Notes editor is SAPscript.

If you choose WinWord as your editor,

• you should convert existing notes from SAPscript to RTF. SAPscript links to other documents, transactions, or reports are lost in conversion. Use report RSNOTESR to convert SAPscript notes.

• new notes are saved in RTF.

If you change back to SAPscript as your editor,

• you have to convert existing notes from RTF to SAPscript. Use report RSNOTERS to convert RTF notes.

• new notes are saved in SAPscript.

So it is better to decide whether you are going to use SAPscript or WinWord as your notes editor before you start work on your Customizing project. Your selection applies equally across all Customizing projects, and also for transaction SO70, Hypertext structure maintenance.

If choosing WinWord as your editor does not work,

• check that WinWord is installed on the front-end you are using.

• if you are using the 32-bit GUI, see if choosing WinWord works better in the 16-bit GUI.
