If messages with no difference in partner function, partner number, or language are to be sent for an object, different output types must be used in Message Control.
If, for example, a sold-to party is supposed to receive an order confirmation both in printed form and via EDI, this means that a message for an object (customer order) must be sent to a specific partner and in a specific language but using different methods.
The condition technique - and therefore the Message Control - requires different output types to represent this situation. These are linked in the procedure, where you cannot assign an ‘exclusive indicator’. For example, you can define the condition components displayed in the following diagram:

In the example, the sold-to party "Company 3", for which transfer via EDI has been newly defined, should receive the order confirmation via EDI. In the initial phase, however, the confirmation should also be printed and sent by mail. The following condition record is created for the output type "order confirmation EDI":
Example for condition record EDI
Sales organization |
Customer |
Partner function |
Transmission medium |
Language |
0001 |
Company 3 |
Sold-to party |
EDI |
German |
An additional condition record is then created for output type "order confirmation print":
Example for condition record EDI
Sales organization |
Customer |
Partner function |
Transmission medium |
Language |
0001 |
Company 3 |
Sold-to party |
|
German |
When the test phase with sold-to party "Company 3" is complete, the condition record can be deleted. Subsequently, only EDI is used for communication.
