Replenishing Fixed Bins in the Warehouse

Usage

The replenishment function is used to fill up the stock in fixed bins. The system first creates transfer requirements for the quantities needed. Afterward, you process the transfer requirements to create transfer orders according to the procedures you would normally use to carry out stock movements in the WM system.

Basically, you have two separate replenishment functions at your disposal.

The first function "Replenishment for Fixed Bins" calculates the replenishment quantities that are required to keep stock at appropriate levels in the warehouse in order to be able to meet the requirements as given by the current stock situation and the entries in the material master.

The second function "Replenishment Planning for Fixed Bins" plans the stock replenishment for the fixed bins in that not only the current stock situation is considered, but also future stock picks are taken into account. Here the system includes pending deliveries with fixed bin picking in the calculation process.

Prerequisites

To implement the replenishment task, you must first define a WM movement type for storage types that use the fixed bin putaway strategy. In the standard system, you can use WM movement type 319 (Replenishment to Production) as a copy template.

For more information about movement types, refer to the Implementation Guide (IMG) for Warehouse Management.

If, in the definition of the movement type, you set the indicator in the Automatic TO field, the system will create transfer orders automatically from the transfer requirements. This field is linked to a control table that can be maintained to customize the automatic creation of transfer orders.

In addition to the changes in the Customizing application , you need to also maintain the material master for each material in question. To do so, enter the required data for Storage bin, max. storage bin quantity, min. storage bin quantity and replenishment quantity at storage type level in der WM view of the material master.

To change a fixed-bin material that has already been created, choose Master data ® Material ® Change.

If you have not assigne any particular fixed bin to a material, you must first create the fixed bin data for this material in the material master.
