Defining a Characteristics Hierarchy 

Use

Here you can define a characteristics hierarchy. After its definition, the hierarchy is included in a report.

Procedure

  1. Call up the transaction as follows:

    Accounting ® Controlling ® Profitability Analysis ® Master Data ® Characteristic Values ® Define Characteristics Hierarchy

    Transaction Code

    KES3

  3. Enter the following data:

  5. Choose Create/Change.
  6. Enter Sales region as a short description.
  7. Choose Hierarchy.
  8. Position your cursor on the first field, enter 1000, and then choose .
  9. In the text field that appears, enter Europe, then choose .
  10. If you repeat this process, the descriptions of the nonchargeable nodes (nodes that cannot be posted to) also appear automatically because these descriptions are stored on the database.

  11. In the next field, enter 1100 as the second level and then choose .
  12. In the text field that appears, enter Germany, then choose .
  13. Enter 1110 as the next hierarchy node and then choose .
  14. In the text field that appears, enter North Germany, then choose .
  15. Position your cursor on the entry 1110 and then choose Lower level.
  16. In the field that now appears, enter DE 02, then choose .
  17. Since this entry does not stand for a hierarchy node but is instead a value that can be posted to, the system automatically provides a description for it.

  18. In the next field, enter DE 03 and then choose .
  19. The appropriate entry then appears automatically.

  20. Position your cursor on the entry 1110 and then choose Same level.
  21. Enter the value 1120, then choose .
  22. In the text field that appears, enter East / West Germany, then choose .
  23. Position your cursor on the field 1120 and then choose Lower level.
  24. Enter the values DE 05, DE 07, DE 11, and DE 14 individually and choose after each entry made.
  25. Position your cursor on the field 1120 and then choose Same level.
  26. Position your cursor on the new field, enter 1130, and then choose .
  27. In the text field that appears, enter South Germany, then choose .
  28. Position your cursor on the field 1130 and then choose Lower level.
  29. Enter the values DE 06, DE 08, and DE 09 individually and choose after each entry made.
  30. To display the nodes using colors, choose Goto ® Color legend, and then double-click the entry Nonchargeable characteristic value.
  31. Choose .
  32. In the Data backup dialog box, choose Yes.
  33. Close the window by choosing in the top right corner.
  34. Choose until the overview tree appears.
