Posting Variant

Definition

See posting variant.

Use

The posting variant is used by the Asset Revaluation (Inflation) program when you run it. The posting variants have two uses, which are outlined below.

Customizing

You maintain posting variants in Customizing for Financial Accounting (FI), by choosing Asset Accounting ® Special Valuation ® Revaluation of Fixed Assets ® Revaluation for the Balance Sheet ® Inflation Accounting ® Maintain Posting Variants.

Once you have done so, you assign:

This posting variant instructs the system which dates you can run the program for. You can only run it on the dates that you specify here.

You assign TBE variants to period control methods, and these in turn to revaluation keys, which ultimately you assign to an asset. These posting variants therefore control how often to post revaluation amounts on a given asset.

Closing

You can only run the Asset Revaluation (Inflation) program for the dates that you have entered in the posting variant assigned to the inflation method.

Furthermore, the program will only revaluate the assets that you have assigned a posting variant that also contains this date.
