Archiving

Using the archiving function, you can transfer SAP System data which is no longer required from the online system into an archive file. Once this procedure has been successfully completed you can delete the online data.

Archiving relieves the load on the system’s memory and improves processing times. If required, you can retrieve the archived data from the archive file and reload it into the system,

The following files can be archived and reloaded into the FI-LC system.

Select the Indiv.Fin.Stmt ® Archiving in the Consolidation menu.

The Archiving Procedure

Archiving takes place in two steps. The archiving program selects data from the database and transfers it to archive files. You then start a deletion program for each archive file. The deletion program reads the data in the files and deletes it from the databases. This two-step procedure improves processing times and also ensures that data has been read and saved before it is deleted from the database.
