The detail screens of the method definition deal with individual components of the consolidation of investments. The system only displays those detail screens needed for the definition of a method. Which screens appear depends on which basic characteristics have been assigned to the method on the overview screen. This results in a different set of detail screens for an equity method, in particular, as opposed to the purchase method or the proportional consolidation.

From Method Definition’s overview screen you can go to the detail screens by pressing the corresponding pushbuttons or by "walking" through the screens sequentially.

When maintaining the selected items on the detail screens, the following must be taken into consideration:

• Selected items are valid for all methods, which means for example, a selected item for identifying minority interest is used for both the book value method and the revaluation method.

• Selected items are maintained on the detail screens according to accounting aspects. The classification keys, under which these selected items are defined, are described in the online help for each respective field.

• Selected items are preset in the standard SAP R/3 System, but can be maintained by the user. When creating a new method, the current status of the selected items is shown by version. During maintenance, note that the selected items are at first only displayed both in display mode and in change mode. To change the default settings to meet your requirements, switch to change mode for selected items using the step Edit. This ensures that no inadvertent changes are made.

• In change mode, selected items can be overtyped with spaces. At first this only temporarily deletes the selected item in method definition. When the method is saved, these selected items are then actually deleted in the Selected Items table of the system.
