Individual FS Data in Local or Group Currency
The entry of individual financial statement data distinguishes between the following constellations in regards to the currency that is used.
Data entry for domestic companies
In domestic companies the local currency coincides with the group currency. In this case, the individual FS data is entered in local currency. The system automatically assumes the local currency values as group currency values, which are the basis for consolidation and intercompany elimination.
Currency translation is not needed, unless dealing with individual FS data from a proportionately included company. Refer to
Proportional Consolidation .Data entry for foreign companies in local currency
Although in foreign companies the local currency usually differs from the group currency, data is generally entered in local currency. Currency translation provides the values in group currency, which are required by consolidation and IC elimination.
Data entry for foreign companies in group currency
Individual FS data for foreign companies can also be entered in group currency. Then currency translation needs not be run.
In this case, bear in mind that the values for proportional companies must be entered proportionately.
If additional data is to be input for certain FS items (for example Accounts Receivable) in transaction currency, please note that the values for proportionately consolidated companies must be entered non-proportionally, that is, at 100%.
Data entry for companies within "local currency groups"
Within local currency groups (see
Subgroup Maintenance ) individual FS data is entered in local currency. In this case, the local currency values are the basis for consolidation and reporting. You should create local currency groups only when no proportional companies are to be included. Otherwise you will have to enter the local currency values proportionately. If proportional companies are included you should, instead, set up a new ledger whose currency coincides with the group currency. Then, data entry for domestic companies, as described above, is applicable.
