In storage location MRP, you can now trigger normal procurement exactly the same way as for plant level. If you want to do this, you must enter a special procurement key at storage location level in the material master record in addition to the MRP type that controls storage location MRP. The following special procurement types are possible at storage location level:
If you enter no special procurement type at storage location level, the material is procured as usual by a stock transport reservation from the accompanying plant.

For every storage location in which stock is planned separately, the system compares the reorder level with the stock of this storage location. If the available storage location stock is less than the reorder level, then the system creates a receipt at storage location level for the replenishment quantity or for a multiple of the replenishment quantity. Here, the order proposal is either a purchase requisition, a planned order or a schedule line and refers to this storage location. This means that you can trigger external or internal procurement for the storage location.
When creating an order proposal, the system takes the quota arrangements and the source list into account. The source list can refer to a contract or a scheduling agreement:
