Use
The Data Transfer Workbench provides the following new features:
- LSM Workbench integrated as mapping tool
The Legacy System
Migration Workbench (LSMW) is integrated seamlessly into the Data Transfer
Workbench. The data transfer specialist can define format mappings as easily
as when using the Data Transfer Workbench.
Provided the LSMW is installed as an add-on, it is available automatically as a pre-registered mapping tool within the Data Transfer Workbench. This feature further emphasizes the power of the single point of control of the Data Transfer Workbench.

- Color display for run-time errors
Error displays have
been enriched with color coding to provide visually explicit status
information on run-time errors. The data transfer specialist is empowered to
drill down to the cause of the error and to make corrections.
- Reusable project elements
An intuitive Copy
and Paste mechanism allows reuse of all elements of a data transfer project,
be they project, subproject, run or task definitions. The data transfer
specialist can quickly adapt to changing situations and fashion new solutions
out of proven elements of previous data migrations.
- Project definitions extractable to a file repository
The reuse of
solutions is further improved through a new transportability feature. The data
transfer specialist can extract all project definitions for storage in a file
repository. Likewise, the definitions can be deployed repeatedly with the same
ease of use in other systems.
