Assigning Funds Centers to Cost Centers

  1. Choose Accounting ® Financial accounting ® Funds management ® Master data ® Assignments ® Controlling ® Cost centers.
  2. Enter a controlling area and a cost center or cost center group.
  3. Confirm.
  4. The Maintain Cost Center - FM Account Assignment screen appears.

  5. You can make the assignments in various ways.

You enter one funds center and, if required, one fund. This entry then applies to all cost elements posted to in connection with the specified cost center or the cost center which belongs to the specified group.

If you have entered a cost center group on the initial screen, this funds center (and fund if specified) is automatically assigned to all the cost centers in that group. You cannot then assign a different funds center to any of the cost centers in the group.

If you have already assigned an FM account assignment to a cost center from this group, you must first delete this assignment or take the cost center out of the group.

Enter a funds center and, if required, a fund for the cost element or cost element group. This entry then applies only to this cost element or cost element group posted to in connection with the specified cost center or a cost center which belongs to the specified group.

You can also enter a commitment item for them. This commitment item then overrides the commitment item you entered in the commitment item - cost element assignment.

  1. Save your input.

If you not only want to use assignment of FM objects to CO objects as an input facility when making postings in other integrated components, but also want to copy the CO postings into Funds Management, you have the option of entering just a CO account assignment in the other component postings.

Result

When you post, the system first checks whether there is an entry with a cost element or cost element group, so that it can use this entry to determine the FM account assignment. If it does not find an entry, the system determines the FM account assignment from the entry without a cost element.
