This scenario describes processes that are executed periodically:

• Physical inventory work at the end of a period, year or at pre-defined times.
• Other activities to be carried out a pre-defined times, such as subsequent settlement of end-of-period arrangements.

The following R/3 components are used:

You use this process to transfer information on sales data, stock levels and open purchase order quantities (quantities on-order) by electronic data interchange (EDI) to your vendors. This enables the vendor, for example, to plan replenishments of his products in your sites (vendor-managed inventory, VMI).

• Rebate settlement
  A credit memo is created for your customers for the purposes of rebate settlement on the basis of all the relevant invoices and credit/debit memos. The stipulations you defined in the volume rebate arrangement are taken into account. Partial payments of the rebate are possible and are taken into account in the final settlement.

• Physical inventory analysis
  You enter the results of the stock count in the system. Once the difference list has been analyzed, you can authorize a recount if you think that errors have been made in the stock count. In this case, new physical inventory documents are created. Once the results of the recount are entered, you close physical inventory and post any physical inventory differences that still exist.
