New Ad Hoc Query Functions

Scope of Functions

Personalized Ad Hoc Query Using Stored Query Parameters

After a query area, functional area, or user group has been chosen once, the values are available for the duration of a session.

Preformatting/Preview of Output Using Grid Control

Prior to this release, you could only influence the appearance of the output list before outputting the results of a report by changing the order of the output fields.

This release includes grid control, which enables you to display a preview of the output list. It provides you with exact information on the output list's appearance. It is also possible to reformat the output list before it is output. For example, you can determine the order of fields, sorting, and the totals fields.

Furthermore, the preview of the output list is supplied with example data to ensure that the preview corresponds as far as possible to the appearance of the list that is actually output.

Simplified Choice of Query Area, User Group, and Functional Area

If you wanted to change the functional area prior to this release, you had to use the Other work area, Other user group, and Other functional area menu options to make your settings. This might have entailed calling transactions more than once because the functional areas offered by the system depend on the user group and query area you have chosen.

You can now access a screen to maintain all three interdependent settings. As a result, you can choose your functional area, user group, and query area more quickly while retaining a better overview.

Additional Restriction Options for the Reporting Set

Prior to this release, the reporting set could be restricted using the current hit list and the organizational structure.

The appropriate settings in Customizing now enable you to use your own restrictions via the selection ID.

Faster Initial Access to Ad Hoc Query by Displaying the Overview Tree

Prior to this release, each user had to activate ActiveX Control separately. ActiveX Control is used to display functional areas in an overview tree.

In this release, displaying the overview tree (for displaying functional areas) is standard. This makes working with Ad Hoc Query considerably easier. However, it is still possible to work without the overview tree.

Simplified Export to Crystal Reports

Prior to this release, you had to enter the path and file name each time you wanted to export data to an existing Crystal Report.

For each query, you can now enter a path that is saved together with the query. This means you do not need to re-enter the path for saved queries.
