Interval of Available Capacity
An interval of available capacity is an
available capacity that is only valid for a certain time. In contrast to the standard available capacity, you can also use it to describe an available capacity based on multiple-shift operation. An interval of available capacity is based on a cycle of one or seven days. After the cycle is finished it repeats itself.
The following graphic compares an unlimited standard available capacity (A) with an available capacity that has been defined using a standard available capacity and an interval of available capacity (B). In intervals 1 and 3 the standard available capacity is valid. In interval 2 the available capacity is based on a seven day cycle. The available capacity on the eighth and ninth days are the same as on the first and second days.

Available capacity: standard available capacity (A) and interval of available capacity (B).
Interval of Available Capacity Data
Existing intervals of available capacity within the validity period of a newly created interval of available capacity can be completely or partially overwritten.
A cycle can last either a day or a week. The system determines that a cycle starts on Monday. The system fits the cycle into the interval of available capacity by scheduling the start of the cycle for the Monday before the interval begins.

If the start of the interval is on a Monday then the start of the cycle and of the interval coincide. If an available capacity interval starts on a Wednesday and you have defined a seven-day cycle, the interval starts with the available capacity for Wednesday in the cycle. If you have defined a daily cycle, the available capacity for Mondays will be assigned to Wednesday
You must enter the following data for every day or shift in a cycle: start, finish, break times, capacity utilization rate, number of individual capacities assigned (see also
available capacity). Data maintenance can be simplified by using
shift definitions and shift sequences
You can use this indicator to determine whether the day in the interval of available capacity are working days and consequently whether the available capacity can really be used.
