Improvements in KANBAN

Use

Solution for the mobile entry of KANBAN data

Previously, kanban signals that had been entered into the system by a barcode scanner, for example, could only be processed using screens which are not necessarily in the place on which the barcode entry takes place. This often resulted in a complicated work flow and long entry times. Other solutions involved using external middleware.

It is now possible to import kanban signals by mobile data entry, using instruments with a barcode scanner and a display. You can then process the signals on site using the display, without using external middleware.

For this purpose, existing KANBAN screens have been converted into character screens, so that they can be reproduced on this display.

You must make the settings for using this solution in Customizing for Logistics Execution:

First of all you have to define a main menu for KANBAN or alternatively you can use the menu in KANBAN , beneath the warehouse number. To do this, proceed as follows:

1. In the SAP implementation guide, choose Logistics execution -> Mobile data entry -> Define menu management.
2. Create a new menu or use the following menu options, as in the KANBAN dynamic main menu:

You can then assign these options to the mobile data entry users.

1. Choose Logistics execution -> Mobile data entry ->RF queue management -> Assign user to queues .
2. Enter the necessary data and set the indicator in the status field so that the user is activated for the mobile data entry functions.

Make sure that the warehouse number* used in menu management matches the warehouse number used for assigning the user to queues. This is necessary for technical reasons. The warehouse number does not have any other significance in the KANBAN process. You can fill the queue field as you like, as it is also unimportant for KANBAN.

3. Save your entries.

You convert the screens using the SAP console. For information on the SAP console see the SAP homepage under the alias LES. Here, choose Media Center -> Literature.

Summarized JIT call collective display

Previously it was only possible to display a single summarized JIT call. It is now possible to display summarized JIT calls with specific selection criteria. You can choose all summarized JIT calls for a plant

or you can restrict the number of summarized JIT calls to be displayed with extra selection criteria.

The collective display for summarized JIT calls can be found under the processing functions of the JIT call.

User exit for user-defined fields in the kanban board.

The user exit MPKP0001 is now available for filling the kanban board with user-defined fields instead of the previous user exit MPKB0002. For technical reasons, you should only use MPKP0001.

Both user exits use the same interface. Therefore you must simply copy your existing coding into the new user exit MPKP0001 to be able to use it.
